Over the coming months, participants, clubs and stakeholders from across the state will have the opportunity to help shape the future of football in Queensland.
Football Queensland (FQ) kicks off ‘Football in Queensland 2020+’, an extensive consultation process inviting Queensland’s football community to provide feedback and input on four key areas of the game; governance, administration, competitions and affordability.
“Our vision is to unite football in Queensland and by working together we can unlock the immense opportunity and potential of our game,” FQ CEO Robert Cavallucci said.
“’Football in Queensland 2020+’ will be a fantastic opportunity for members of the Queensland football community to have their say on the future direction of the game. Our goal is to unlock opportunity for our participants and clubs by strengthening the governance and delivery of affordable football across the state.
“FQ held a webinar last night with clubs from across the state, and provided an overview of the statewide consultation process to be undertaken across the next six months with the consultation paper set to be released next week.
“Throughout the statewide consultation process, we encourage all our participants and clubs to take the opportunity through virtual town halls, webinars, interviews, focus groups, surveys and other formats to provide feedback to help shape football beyond 2020, to deliver outcomes that are for the ‘good of the game’.
“Initially the ‘Football in Queensland 2020+’ consultation was planned to commence in March with a club summit set for the South East Queensland region, which was unfortunately unable to go ahead due to COVID-19.
“Since then, FQ has continued to refine the consultation framework that was in development in the months prior to the planned club summit.
“Ultimately, at the conclusion of the consultation process, all of Queensland’s football community will have been given the opportunity to have their say on how we lead the game, run the game, play the game and fund the game across Queensland beyond 2020.”
More information on opportunities for clubs and participants to engage in consultation with FQ as part of the ongoing statewide consultation process will follow next week’s consultation paper release.
