Football Queensland (FQ) North has today confirmed the details of the 2021 Filippo Mele Memorial Community Carnival, to be held in Townsville this June.
The three-day event is set to be a fantastic showcase of young local talent in North Queensland, welcoming boys from Under 9 to Under 13 and girls from Under 8/9 to Under 12-14 to 1300SMILES Active Park from 27 – 29 June.
“The Filippo Mele Memorial Community Carnival will see young players from across North Queensland and neighbouring regions go head-to-head against their peers in a series of competitive matches,” General Manager – North Region Declan Carnes said.
“It will be a great chance for our junior players to challenge themselves at an inter-regional level, while providing additional development opportunities for regional footballers in line with FQ’s Strategic Plan.
“For many players, this carnival will be their first experience playing against their peers at this type of event, which will be an excellent learning opportunity for them and a great stepping-stone for their progression.
“We are excited to announce a format change to become a club entry competition where clubs can nominate teams, and players registered with Football Queensland are able to join a team if they are holidaying in North Queensland and participate in the game they love!
“The Filippo Mele Memorial Community Carnival is always a highlight in our footballing calendar and we look forward to seeing the talent on display across the three-day event.”
FQ North invites teams to register for the event, with limited spots available.
