Football Queensland Quad Series
A large portion of the states MiniRoo and Junior player base are located outside of south east Queensland. Regional/County Queensland has always been a hot bed for Junior football development and the Quad Series is a further investment from Football Queensland in to assisting players become the best they can. The program links zone Talent Support Programs (representative development) from 4 areas namely Far North Queensland, North Queensland, Mackay and Central Queensland.
Players travel to each zone to play 3-6 shorter format games over 2 and some 3 day weekends, this not only creates opportunity for them to test themselves against other Queensland competition but also gives our state’s technician and opportunity to ID talent in the one location, like for like. These representative matches are on top of their local club fixtures and therefore add important contact hours with the ball, qualified coaches and advanced team mates.
The Quad Series forms part of the Country State Team selection for boys (U13 & U14) and State Team Selection for girls (U13 & U15), it also creates a platform to U15/16 boys and girls talent ID for state Junior Matildas and Joeys camps.
Each zones teams are trained locally by Football Queensland staff and qualified coaches in Talent Support Programs and Skill Acquisition Programs. (Mackay Whitsundays Magpies Crusaders United are an NPL licensee with qualified coaches – their club participates in this series).
Additional invitational matches against South-East Queensland’s National Premier Leagues/Football Queensland Premier League clubs are organised to provide yet more opportunities for high quality competition.
